About Leadlight Expressions

Meet Steve & Lynn

Lynn and Steve Sinclair have a long background in leadlighting. They have been designing, making, installing and repairing leadlights commercially for nearly 20 years.

Lynn originally trained under three different tutors in Christchurch before opening her own business, and when Steve was made redundant from his job, she trained him!

They worked in North Canterbury for several years and then made the move to Tauranga in 2001.  Initially they worked from a shop in the Eleventh Avenue Plaza and then moved to a home based operation in Welcome Bay. They have been settled into their studio in the Historic Village since 2003.

Lynn’s favourite part of the leadlighting process is cutting glass, whilst Steve loves the lead work side. He especially loves repairs and finds returning a broken or beat up leadlight to its former glory is particularly rewarding.

Lynn also discovered the joy of glass fusing, or melting glass in a kiln to make jewellery, plates and pictures and now runs classes in this as well as stained glass.

The couple have a passion for producing the best possible quality that they can and are known for going the “extra mile” for their customers.

Tauranga’s Historic Village is a collection of original old buildings taken from early Tauranga. These were then assembled into a unique village setting in 2.7 hectares of gardens and bush surrounds.

Tauranga Historic Village

Come and stroll the cobbled streets of our Village, see the historic buildings, shops and a fantastic bakery/cafe.

There are several large character buildings that are available for hire for seminars or meetings, a theatre, church, cafe and a big catering/function centre with full bar and restaurant facilities (prebooking only).

Some of these buildings are the studios and workshops of artists and craftspeople, as well as craft and gift shops and galleries. Also on offer are classes and workshops in a wide range of subjects and suitable for all skill levels.

In the grounds are several picturesque courtyards and squares, a fountain, water feature, gardens, bushwalk and many grassy areas.

The first and third Sunday of every month between 8am and 1pm, the Lions Market sets up in the Village. This is an Art, Craft and Produce market with entertainment and food stalls. A great festive occasion.

Come down to the Tauranga Historic Village and check out our shop.  We have a wide range of Leadlight supplies for the crafts person and would be happy to discuss our custom Leadlight Design & Build services with you.
